We're pilgrims of the journey of the narrow road
and those who've gone before us find their way
cheering on the faithful
encouraging the weary
their life a stirring testament
to God's sustaining grace
Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
let's run the race not only for the prize
but of those who've gone before us
let's leave to those behind us
the heritage of faithfulness
pass on through Godly lives
O may all who come behind us find us faithful
may the fire of our devotion light their way
may the footprints that we leave
lead them to believe
in this life we live inspire them to obey
O may all who come behind us find us faithful
So let's all work hard and let all those who come behind us find us faithful. :)
I think this song doesn't only applies to catholics and Christians right? It's like for all mankind of the world with every different kind of religions. We're like always the pilgrims of this life of brute and sufferings, and those who've gone before us found their way to where ever they believe they are. Somewhere in heaven or hell..or the termites and earthworm. And for every of us left in this world, we still have to work hard to continue living by cheering on the faithful and encouraging the weary. Every life is always a stirring testament by the most important grace and purposes we're all living for.
Like most of us who had been through shit that happens, we don't know why we're trying so hard running for the race when the prize doesn't seem appealing. The reason of running will never be for the prize or we'll never find the heritage of faithfulness.
People who lived before us has inspired us to obey, let's make this life a role model for those after us. Inspiring them to obey. :)
HAHA. Does that make sense? That was what someone told me while teaching me this song.
